Monique has extensive
experience with Rehabilitative Pilates, having successfully assisted
those with physical limitations or disabilities, to a better quality
of life. Monique has worked with many individuals who've been in motor
vehicle accidents, those with chronic pain and with individuals suffering
from spinal cord injuries, just to name a few. Continuing
education is a priority, and Monique has taken many training courses
and workshops over the years, including courses with Karen Carlson,
Marie Jose, Eric Franklin, and Marika Molnar. Monique has certificates
in Hyperton X and Bio-Kinesiology, and has taken workshops focusing
on the shoulder, hips and pelvis and sports-specific muscle testing.
In addition, she takes sessions in complimentary modalities such as
Rolfing, Gyrokinesis and Massage Therapy. Gannon Bio coming soon! Clinton, BFA Dance Stephanie Stephanie's interest in the moving body started in the 1990’s, while studying dance in Quebec City. In 2001, she settled permanently in Vancouver BC, where she completed a 3 year professional dance training program at Maindance. It was during this time that she was introduced to the Pilates method. Stephanie obtained her Pilates instructor certification in 2006 and has been teaching ever since. Christina Clayton Christina was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast and took up dancing at the age of 5. Over the following 12 years, her love of dance accompanied with many trips throughout the world inspired her to move to Pilates. She moved to Vancouver in the Fall of 2008 and has recently become a Certified Level 1 teacher with STOTT Pilates. Christina is very excited to see where the world of Pilates will lead her. Jane Bockman, RYT Jane is a certified mat Pilates instructor as well as a Registered Yoga teacher. With a lifelong focus on health and well-being, Jane has actively promoted the restorative, functional, and accessibility of fitness for all persons, regardless of age or ability. Jane approaches the wellness of body and spirit as a passionate and fun experience. She is both enthusiastic and dedicated to assisting all students in the pursuit of the beneficial properties that Pilates and Yoga can offer. Jennifer Redding As a BASI certified Pilates instructor Jennifer tries to honour and preserve the legacy of Joseph and Clara Pilates: presenting the original principles and repertoire (utilizing all the Pilates equipment), at the same time integrating contemporary scientific developments and evolving the method into today's lifestyle. Romney Pearson Since starting dance at an early age, body movement has always been an integral part of Romney’s lifestyle, and being a Pilates instructor has proven to be a natural transition. In 2008 Romney received her first level of comprehensive Peak Pilates training and since then has taken courses for the Chair and Barrel and will be taking her second level of Peak training this coming summer in Montana. Romney feels that being able to teach others the Pilates method is a blessing, and certainly a rewarding experience, and she strives to help her students experience the amazing mental and physical healing that can come from practicing Pilates. Laura Hicks As a professional dancer Laura has a diverse movement background that spans over twenty years of training in dance, yoga, pilates, somatic practices, and anatomy studies. This experience gives her a unique approach to teaching, encouraging each client to move towards his or her own movement potential while emphasizing safety and conscious attunement to one’s own body. Laura is fully certified on all equipment by Michele Larsson of Core Dynamics Pilates, and has also studied with Dianne Miller. Laura was the recipient of the Holy Body Tattoo Award as BC's Emerging Dance Artist of the year in 2009, has been awarded both provincial and federal arts funding for professional development in dance, and was an artist in residence with the Dance Centre for their 2009/10 season. Estefania Orta, R.Ac. Estefania Orta, R.Ac., is a Registered Acupuncturist, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, who moved to Vancouver in 2001, to attend UBC to study Microbiology-Immunology. In 2006, she completed a double diploma as an Acupuncturist and Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the International College of TCM of Vancouver. She also does Nutrition Counseling, Tui-Na massage, Exercise Therapy, Cupping and Moxibustion, all modalities of TCM. She combines modern medical science with her Holistic approach to enhance the relationship between the body and mind. She focuses on the body's natural ability to heal itself by using different techniques to balance the body and promote smooth flow of energy. She has treated muscular-skeletal injuries, chronic pain, gynecological disorders, stroke recovery, insomnia, allergies, depression and more. Donna Hudon, RMT Donna began her career in the health care field at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1994 and has been practicing as an RMT since she graduated. She has spent the past 10 years in Whistler working in an academic clinical setting in a busy physiotherapy clinic, treating individuals of various athletic levels for acute and chronic sports injuries as well as working with chronic postural and ergonomic issues. After practicing massage therapy for 7 years she decided to enroll in an Osteopathic Manual Therapy program to help her fine tune her assessment and treatment skills. To her surprise she gained so much more than she could have ever expected from this training, she gained the perspective of looking at the body as a functional unit. Over the past 5 years Donna attended the Canadian College of Osteopathy and graduated in May of 2009. Donna enjoys the education aspect of her career. One of her goals during a treatment is to ensure all of her patients learn more about their body and understand how they can assist in their healing, prevent other injuries and improve their overall health and well being. Maggie Lima As a native of mexico, growing up Maggie was surrounded by dance and music. Dances such as cumbia, merengue, salsa, mambo, chachacha, and banda were part of her everyday life. Her love for dance and passion for fitness came together when in 2000 she met professor Nego form Capoeira Males in Guadalajara, Mexico and began to train capoeira, soon after she discovered a new love.... Samba! Eventually joining a local batucada group and performing live. The idea to combine her history of dance, capoeira and samba into an aerobics workout, high lighted with the great sounds of latin music., She is exited to have put together a fun and easy to follw workout designed to dance your way into a better and healthier life style. Maxine Druker As a Yoga Practioner, Maxine brings many years of yoga experience to the mat. Maxine is certified in Sivanada Classical Hatha Yoga, as well as Yoga of the Heart: specialized training to teach yoga to people with life threatening illnesses, such as heart disease, cancer, HIV. Suitable for all levels, let Maxine guide and assist you in taking your yoga practice to your "next level". Off the mat Maxine is the Director and crusader for Yoga4Kidz, a nonprofit grassroots organization that is dedicated to contributing to a world in which children receive the wide-ranging benefits of yoga activity and learn the gift of compassionate living. |
